Comedy Workshops

Hello and welcome!

I run a selection of comedy writing workshops including one on creating comedy characters. My workshops are open to all levels of experience and backgrounds. They take place in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Why you should sign up for a workshop

  • People tell you that you're funny
  • Comedy feels like an itch you need to scratch
  • You have a project that you want to inject some comedy into
  • You want to know more about writing comedy and getting material
  • You want to learn how to write and perform
  • You have a creative idea you want to make come to life like a podcast, blog, short story, play etc...
  • You are shy but want to push yourself to build your confidence
  • You want to get out of your comfort zone and try something new

The main reason you should sign up is you will walk away from the workshops inspired, full of tools for writing and buzzing with confidence!

Workshops available

Comedy Writing Workshop - We cover where comedy comes from, what makes something funny, how to mine for ideas, how to bust through creative blocks, how to approach a show or creative project and more!

Creating Comedy Characters - In this workshop you will learn where to mine for material, how to create comedy characters from scratch, make characters multi-layered, avoid cliche and stereotypes, get ideas for performance, learn how to put on a show or put characters into your creative projects and more!

Let me tell you a little bit about me and why i run the workshops

My passion is comedy. I love watching it, writing it, performing it, reading about it and encouraging others to get involved with it. I felt lost for many years and comedy is the one thing I know I should be doing with my life. It makes me so happy.

However, years ago I didn't even know comedy could be a career option for me. I was so shy and anxious. I wouldn't have even known where to start. I wouldn't have got this far down the line without doing a comedy workshop that changed my life. I took part in a Saturday afternoon workshop with Funny Women about 5 years ago and it changed my life. I was put on stage for the first time doing stand up after that workshop and everything started from there.

I have also taken part in other comedy workshops and found them so inspiring and so much fun!

If you're reading this and thinking you are too shy or anxious to take part - don't worry. I was once in your shoes and that's why I have designed the workshops to be a really safe and supportive space. I promise you that taking part in my workshops will make you surprise yourself and boost your confidence so you can get cracking on that creative project.

Are you ready to give it a go? See below for the current workshops available and details of signing up to the mailing list to be first to know about new dates added. You can also contact me through my online contact form in the menu to ask me questions.
